To fairly decide on what plot we should have, I'm generating a poll! Please vote! If you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to post them as well. These are the current options: The Old Plot Continued: Light and ShadowEveryone knows the story, of the mighty prides that ruled the lands. The foremost of these was Kivuli, its timeless ancestry stretching farther back than anyone can remember. The land of shadows, always properous and benevolent, still rules its mighty valley. However, a pride once thought extinct, suddenly rises from the ashes. Long forgotten, the lands of old are reclaimed by one claiming them to be his ancestral home. A star is reborn, and the lands of light return. The land of shadows feels threatened, no longer remembering the old aliances. Can two prides, once deeply tied, become so once again? The Previous Plot: Lions vs. Cheetahs
The lands of old have gone to ruin, and now its a fight for survival. Prides are small, few, and far between. The once mighty lions are clinging for their place in the great circle, but then so is everyone else. The tyrant king, Arapmoi, rules the largest pride and has the most territory. He has declared war on the cheetahs, and now the spotted cats must defend their own against the rulers of the plain. (More information on this plot can be found here. The Circle of Life RevisitedEveryone has seen The Lion King, and everyone knows the story. But what happened before Simba's birth? What was the pride life? And what about after? How did Kovu and Kiara rule? This plot would be a plan to make the MUCK a canon Lion King MUCK, starting either before the days of Mufasa or during Kovu and Kiara's rule. Other?Do you have a plot idea? Then please share!

As the name I registered under implies, I'm heavily biased towards a setting that is at least loosely based upon the films -- specifically towards one set during/after the second film, which allows for both the history of the movies to be considered IC history as well but also for an open-ended story to be played out from thereafter. I understand those people who think it's overplayed by now, but as it's what I would personally prefer to see if an alternative to TLKMuck (which lacks any active FC story at all, despite being named for the movie) is to be revived, it gets my vote. As a side note, we could always consider adapting the status quo of Sunrise prior to two or three crashes ago -- when several FCs were integrated into the MUCK alongside Sunrise's original prides. Perhaps the Pridelands, the Outlands, and Kivuli? Otherwise, I'd vote for the classic good/evil option, simply because TLKMuck just lacks the evil pride option entirely at the moment, and I just never really got into the lion/cheetah war thing.

Since I primarily play meerkats, I'd like to see an almost epic backstory for any and all. So, I figure, we take a similar war story like you proposed above, but direct it to the smaller creatures. One colony could have been completely obliterated by the other (They could be good or evil. Depends on the motivation for the extermination of the other colony.)

As awesome as that sounds... I'm afraid lions tend to be the species of choice with most people. Unless I'm proved otherwise. It might make a good subplot though!

Heh - I know where my vote lies. XD
I'm something of a traditionalist at heart, having been around since SunRise MUCK's inception and from when it was previously known as African Tails Muck.
I'm anxious to see Kimondo, Kivuli, the Pridelands, and the Badlands once again. ^^

Nice to see you all again!
Since I joined during the Lions vs. Cheetahs plot, I would love to see that one again. It was fun, and it was interesting. I liked the complexity of the Lion Pride versus the Cheetah Clan. Also, I would like to play Thulani and Kamaria again; Thulani being the Hyena Matron and Kamaria being the Cheetah Queen. I had established Thulani pretty well, but didn't have the chance with Kamaria.
If that plot was destined to fail though, I do like the simple, circle of life plot. I have a feeling it'd be easier to establish a presence with Thulani that way, no matter how much I liked the Lions vs Cheetahs plot.

I was pointed to these forums by someone who caught me on Lion King Muck. I haven't played since the game was re-themed the last time. Still, I'd be willing to come back to play a character (or two). I miss Sunrise, as it was my first role-playing game and still close to my heart.
I'd like to see lion RP, as that really was what tended to be the heart of the original game. I'm not so much interested in FCs, as I don't feel like I can step into the 'paws' of someone else's character, but I don't mind seeing that either.
If anyone has any character or ideas in mind that they would like to see, or would like me to play with them, feel free to AIM me. I'm on as Arazia most of the time. But I'm currently overseas in Scottland so my connection times are iffy for a bit.

I wasn't around while Sunrise was around, so any plots are new to me.

I think, that for once there should be a change in plans. We all know lions rule (because they do, those awesome things) but what if they didn't? The first idea caught my attention, what if there was a pride long ago, lions became arrogant knowing they had control over the savannah. Greed and lust for more power led them to their own downfall. This things happen and I'm sure not all kings are perfect as good all Muffy. See what happened to Scar? He had it all, and he let the Pridelands go down because he couldn't control it. What if this happens? Lions are not so powerful, and they are almost afraid to hunt alone or in small groups because the other animals are no longer scared of them. There's bigger, badder tyrants out there. What once was the lions' waterhole has become land of the hyenas, and they keep it nice and clean and such. PrideRock (or whatever place is decided to be the main place of the lands) was lost, the pride scattered in small groups and cheetah, panthers, whatever other species with enough control of themselves took over.
I'm not a big fan of every player having only lion alts (even knowing that I would like my main alt to be a lion). But given the power is not exclusive to lions, I'm sure players will want to start different alts with different species, why? Because lions, here? Won't rule the jungle. It's encouraging, it's new, it's a little crazy, and with some time and discussion I'm pretty sure we can come up with a solid story behind this downfall.
So, there's my idea, one of many.. Maybe it should be interesting. Even meerkats could play a really important role, like a chinatown on the savannah, the little buggers can be a good mafia. XD
EDIT: Ooooh! Zagaa!!! ^^ It makes my heart feel warm seeing old school people here again.

Arazia! Long time, no see! ^^ Glad to hear you're interested in coming back! Always could use old hands to help bring in the new generation and to get the MU* stable on it's paws. n_n! And trust me - I know all about connectivity issues. I'm in the Navy. XD Here's hoping to see you around! ~Maiza I was pointed to these forums by someone who caught me on Lion King Muck. My thoughts exactly. I would definitely have a Lion alt because they will probably be the dominating species, but I would not really enjoy myself here with a Hyena or Cheetah character if I wasn't going to get any RP time. Plus, everyone should have the option of choosing a different species.
I started up a Hyena clan during Sunrise's last run, and it was successful. I would like to do the same. I even thought about perhaps a Giraffe/Zebra herd, or something. My time on Meadows has made me appreciate prey species a lot.

Yay for prey species! I would certainly like to see a lot of them. :3 I love diversity, but I must admit I like playing lions too. But I'll play just about any animal really.

Prey species are very underrated everywhere, I think! I actually get more joy out of playing my Whitetail on Meadows than my Wolf alt! Then again, he's more established.. but hey. If the interest is there, I think that a Giraffe/Zebra herd would be very interesting. That, or antelope of some sorts.

Well it seems the first plot suggestion is winning. If no more votes come in by midnight Monday, then I'll close the voting.

Technically I'm not new to the MUCK, but its been so many years and I was on so briefly anyway that I might as well be.
I voted "other" ... but I don't actually have a specific plot in mind, I think in general it would be best to start anew with TPs and FCs.
I just think that while its great to revive a MUCK after months of downtime, in truth I doubt you'll be able to get all your FC players back. I know FCs are not a player's creation, and in theory new players should be able to take over vacancies, but my experience has been it just isn't the same. I think that it'd be simpler to simply start anew with a fresh plot and FCs.
I realize that'd kinda make it "SunRise In Name Only" ... but it'd avoid continuity problems inherent to the previous FC players who may have drifted on to other things and might not come back as well as provide an opportunity to attract fresh blood like myself.
I hope my explanation is food for thought, anyway.
